Work Flow: Raw Water Tank → Feed Water Pump  → Sand Filter → Manganese Sand Filter → Carbon Filter → Security Filter→ High Pressure Pump → Ultrafiltration Membrane → UF Water Tank

• The ultrafiltration-ultrafiltration (UF) system uses a hydrophilic capillary membrane to separate a high percentage of suspended and dissolved molecules. Only certain types of molecules (such as water) can pass through the membrane. Other larger molecules, such as organic compounds, proteins, oil and suspended solids are too large to pass through the membrane and are left behind. The membrane is made of thin “hollow fibers” with an inner diameter between 0.8 and 2.0 mm, which have micro pores that allow water to pass through while acting as a barrier to dissolved and suspended particles.

• The ultrafiltration membrane used in the system is a “ inside-out” configuration. The UF membrane can be “backwashed” by pumping filtered water through the fiber in the opposite direction of the feed flow. The efficiency of backwashing can be improved by adding chemicals (such as acid or hypochlorite) to the backwash water.
